The Orphans Kitchen team has opened DAILY BREAD in Point Chevalier, a new deli, cafe and bakery selling a range of daily essentials like butters, milks and avocados, alongside breads and other baked goods. Filipino favourite NANAM has upped sticks from Royal Oak to new premises in Takapuna, and the menu has been refined too. MISSION BAY PAVILION is a new addition to the seaside suburb from the crew behind Ostro, Ebisu, Azabu et al. Housed in a heritage building, it’s an all-day affair with an Italian-leaning menu. New to the Ferry Building downtown is THE SHUCKER

BROTHERS, a slick Cheshire Architects-designed oyster bar and eatery, and ISLAND

GELATO, an outpost of the Waiheke Island ice cream shop.

HYDE KITCHEN & CELLAR is a new Italian-leaning daytime restaurant in Ponsonby, with a focus on game meat. The Barnacle has been reborn as ŌRĀKEI BAY BISTRO, with a relaxed, family-friendly vibe.

HAWKER & ROLL is a Malaysian street food spin-off of Josh Emett and Fleur Caulton’s Madam Woo, new to the Sylvia Park shopping centre.
