CULTIVATING A FUTURE

Well done to Cultivate Christchurch, an urban farming-focused social enterprise, which had just reached its crowd-funding target of $160,000 to expand its composting programme as we went to print. The PledgeMe campaign used a unique model of “broccoli bonds”, through which pledgers could choose to have their principal paid back in cash or product, the latter in the form of landscaping services, compost or produce – that’s where the broccoli comes in. The money raised will fund the infrastructure to grow Cultivate Christchurch’s organic waste and compostable packaging collection services in the CBD. cultivate.org.nz
