Wool wise

There has been a shift back to wool carpet in the past two years and it has a special look and feel, says Siobhan MacLeod from Flooring Xtra. Chunky loop piles are popular, with a resurgence in demand for beige, taupe and brown. It seems Kiwis are really embracing natural-looking colours in their homes, she says, as they’re not only forgiving when it comes to general upkeep, but feel comforting and soothing.

Says Rochelle Flint from Bremworth: “We have found that most consumers are looking for carpets that offer a textured sensory experience and are neutral in tone which gives the flexibility to introduce bolder colours in furniture and cushions. However, some consumers are selecting playful and bold coloured carpets to achieve an unexpected aesthetic.”
