How to connect living spaces with colour

See resene.co.nz/colorshops

Whether inspired by art deco style, Moroccan vibes or a love of retro, arches are finding their way into our homes. They’re not only a design feature but a way of gently defining, yet connecting, two areas. Adjacent living spaces often present a colour challenge – do you paint both areas the same Resene colour or not? Certainly, a unified approach may be best, and using a tonal colour palette is an effective strategy. Using one colour in both areas would look a little bland, so try varying strengths of the same Resene colour. You may opt for colours close in strength, but for added drama, use dark and light together, as seen here with a stormy blue wall in front and pale blue space beyond. Mid-range blues are used in furnishings and accessories (the curvy shapes of which echo the arch), and it’s all accented with soft dusty browns for dreamy, relaxing living spaces.
