Designer Natalie Du Bois who created the laundry above says separate laundries are becoming more multifunctional and being used as excess pantry space for bulk food, storing sports equipment and gardening gear, wine/drinks storage, an extra fridge and also as a combined space with a butler’s pantry. “Having a separate dedicated room means reduced noise throughout your home and also a room you can shut off and hide things – so important with so many open-plan kitchens these days.” She recommends designing a laundry at the same time as a kitchen for a cohesive look. “Often I would include artwork and sometimes display shelving to give a more relaxed look, and definitely good ambient and task lighting to create a good laundry space.”
