Pattern & colour

Homeowners are becoming more adventurous in their bathrooms, using tiles such as the Moroccan-style ones at left that are more colourful and patterned. Tile Space design consultant Mahsa Halajpour notes that nature-inspired patterns are trending, as well as art deco motifs and terrazzo-look tiles. You can even pick a favourite image which Tile Space will customise onto tiles or mosaics for you. Nature also has a hand in colour preferences with moss greens, rustic reds, autumn tones and dusky pinks being popular, says Mahsa who suggests using strongly coloured or patterned tiles as a feature wall, behind a bath or vanity, then if you absolutely love it, continue it onto other walls. If the tile comes in a floor grade, it can be used on one wall, then flow down onto the floor, which can often make a bathroom appear more spacious.
