How to use dried persimmons

Use as dried fruit – Dried persimmon can be used in baking as you would dried apricots, dates or prunes. Simply chop and add to cakes, cookies or muesli bars. They are also great mixed through toasted muesli (after cooking).

Add to casseroles – Dried fruit is a great addition to winter stews to add a sweet note. Add pieces of dried persimmon to tagines or casseroles in the last hour of cooking. Particularly good with beef and lamb.

Serve with cheese – Slices of dried persimmon are a wonderful addition on a cheese platter. Use in a similar way to quince paste or fruit cheese. They match particularly well with strong flavoured cheeses such as blue cheese or a ripe brie.
