Arlo’s preserves

My four-year-old grandson Arlo and I made these after reading Nicola Galloway’s article (July). A year ago, we moved to a property that came with five acres of mixed orchard and at least 20 lemon trees. Here, we used the juice of 50 lemons with another 50 packed into the jars. We also have a huge bay leaf tree so we went and picked some leaves. The final result is from four hours of picking, juicing, cutting and stacking – a good afternoon project for Nannie and Arlo.
