My point of view

I just wanted to send a very big thank you to Jan McLeod from New Plymouth for her letter and photo of her birdfeeder (September 2020).

I bought a secondhand bird cage to make one. As I did not have a suitable place to hang it, my husband covered a board with black polythene, and the cage now sits on that, on a table.

We have endless enjoyment watching the little birds, especially loads of wax-eyes, as the big birds cannot get through the gaps I have created. I feed them with rolled oats and sugar water, and I melt fat and when it is partially set I mix lots of wild bird seed through and set it back in two pottles. They love it.

Well worth the effort, so thanks again.
