DIY project

Grow stem cuttings in water with Jacob Leaf’s simple hanging propagator.

Wall-mounted propagation stand.

1

Trim the 40mm x 10mm radiata moulding to 280mm in length. From one end, mark pilot holes at 40mm, 90mm, 140mm, 190mm and 240mm, then drill the holes with a 4mm drill bit. 2

Secure the radiata moulding, then with a 25mm spade bit, carefully drill out the holes for the test tubes.

3

Measure in 10mm from each end of the wood and drill holes for the string hanger with a 4mm drill bit. Sand off any rough edges, then paint or stain.

4

Thread the string, then secure it in place with a stop knot at each end. 5

Slide the test tubes in place, then hang up your propagation station. ✤ To watch the DIY video, search for “hanging plant propagator” at play.stuff.co.nz.
