WAIHEKE ISLAND’S

pioneering vineyard Te Motu is home to The Shed, where head chef Bronwen Laight turns out inspired dishes celebrating local, seasonal produce, much of it grown on site. Bronwen, originally from Canada, has been at The Shed since 2011, and was instrumental in earning the restaurant a hat at the 2017 Cuisine Good Food Awards – a first for Waiheke. “I really believe that Mediterranean-style food suits Waiheke Island – it’s healthy and it’s a very natural way to cook and eat, using ingredients that are readily available,” says Bronwen, who used plates by Waiheke ceramicist Peter Baigent of Factory Ceramics for this shoot. “I hope you try these recipes over summer and have as much enjoyment as I did developing them, but regardless, just remember my philosophy for food is to keep it simple, keep it healthy, make it full of flavour and most importantly, make it with love!”
